No state income tax!
Read my lips! Bill Sniffin feels comfortable quoting former
President George H. W. Bush's famous line. Bill Sniffin says
that if elected governor, he will do everything in his power
to keep Wyoming from ever having a state personal income tax.
Wyoming people have always prided themselves on not having
a state income tax. Instead, Bill Sniffin sees other ways
that Wyoming can raise revenues to provide needed services
for its citizens.
As for other taxes, Bill is not uncomfortable with certain
changes in the sales tax and gasoline tax structures in Wyoming.
He knows that a large percentage of these taxes are paid by
tourists and visitors passing through, which is a benefit
for Wyoming's citizens.
As a businessman, Bill is uncomfortable with suggestions that
the state finally adopt some sort of state corporate tax
However, if it can be demonstrated that out-of-state companies
are enjoying tremendous competitive advantages by not having
to pay such taxes and yet get to do business in the state,
well, he thinks that should be looked at by the Legislature.
And finally and once again, if Bill Sniffin is elected governor,
nobody will even hear mention of a proposed personal state
income tax.
