No nuclear waste dump in Wyoming
As editor of one of the largest newspapers in Fremont County,
Bill's paper was a forum for proponents and opponents of the
efforts in the early 1990s to store nuclear waste there.
He felt then and he feels now that the people of Wyoming will
never tolerate the storage of nuclear waste within the borders
of the state. As governor, he would continue to oppose the
importation of nuclear waste to Wyoming.
"Are we so desperate for economic development, that we
would take on a project that nobody else in the United States
wants?" he asks.
And although the money looks appealing to some people, the
overwhelming feeling of the people of the state is one of
opposition.
If governor, Bill Sniffin says he doesn't consider making
Wyoming a nuclear waste dump as "economic development."
Based on what he knows about the project, he would not support
such an effort.
