Bill Sniffin on business
No other candidate for Wyoming governor in 2002 understands
business from the ground up like Bill Sniffin.
Bill has spent his entire business career helping small town
business people be successful. He has served on countless
Chamber of Commerce committees and counseling hundreds of
future business leaders in retailing, marketing and distribution.
He has been a small business owner for 30 years. He has been
an owner, operator or part owner of businesses in Lander,
Dubois, Jeffrey City, Green River, Lyman, Cody, Greybull,
Casper and the Wind River Indian Reservation plus four cities
in Montana, three cities in South Dakota and one in Hawaii.
As a business owner, he has had to deal first hand with the
mountains of red tape that government can throw at business
operators. He has found this to be very frustrating and as
governor, one of his goals will be to continue to streamline
the ways government deals with business. He supports one-stop
shopping for businesses and he likes the concept of government
being "user friendly" just like a retailer.
With that said, Bill believes Wyoming is fortunate to have
such a dedicated workforce of talented people working for
the state. We don't need to change the personnel, but we need
ways to make their jobs easier so they can serve the Wyoming
public and business community in even better ways.
Bill Sniffin believes in public-private partnerships, cooperative
agreements and efforts where people work together. His long
years in business proved that a lot more got done when people
worked together than when they tried to just get things accomplished
on their own. He believes that power is not diminished when
you give it away, it generates more power. When somebody keeps
power, power diminishes.
Bill knows what it is like to borrow money and repay loans.
He has had to hire a great many people and occasionally, he
has had to fire them, too. He understands the personnel demands
of business and will work to improve chances of getting potential
employees in touch to employers with jobs.
One of his ideas is to promote the publishing of notices in
the local media of all job openings across the state. He also
wants to provide, as a service to people looking for work,
the chance to publish their information in local media, across
the state, too.
Bill is a recognized expert in tourism. He believes Wyoming
should have selective tourism growth.
Few people are aware than one-fourth of the money spent by
the average tourist on his or her trip to Wyoming is for shopping.
By promoting unique kinds of tourism in more places at different
time, he believes you can spur on the economy and help businesses
prosper.
